Eureka! Leadership Institute

The Eureka! Leadership Institute is an intensive week-long leadership training event that will take place April 27-May 2, 2008, at the Kona Kai Resort on Shelter Island in San Diego. The Institute is part of a multi-phase leadership program developed by Infopeople under a grant from the California State Library. Institute leaders are Becky Schreiber and John Shannon of Schreiber Shannon Associates.

Mission
The mission of the Leadership Institute is to develop future leaders for California libraries and for the library profession, to help California library staff become leaders in the communities they serve, and to promote the profession as a force for positive change in society.

A competitive application process resulted in the selection of the following thirty-six Institute participants:

Logistics

  • The Institute will be held at the Kona Kai Resort, 1551 Shelter Island Drive, San Diego. The resort has shuttle service to the from the San Diego airport (which is very close) and also to and from the downtown San Diego Amtrak Station.
  • There is on-site parking for those who are driving; parking fees will be paid by the Institute.
  • Mentors are expected to arrive by 6 PM on Saturday, April 26. A group dinner at 6 PM will be followed by a briefing at 7:30 PM.
  • Participants should check in at the Kona Kai between 1 and 4 PM on Sunday, April 27.
  • Everyone should plan to stay in residence at the Institute through 2:30 PM on Friday, May 2.
