I was having a trip down trivia memory lane today, which started when I jokingly said "Sawright" and we tried to remember the name of the puppet who uttered that phrase (Pedro, voiced by Senor Wences on the Ed Sullivan Show ). Next, we tried to remember the name of the puppeteer who was the voice behind Lamb Chop (it was Shari Lewis ), which then led me down a road looking for info on other ventriloquists (Paul Winchell , Edgar Bergen, who you have to love as he was a RADIO ventriloquist - think about that for a sec). ANYway, eventually we came around to think about Howdy Doody, who sort of started the whole puppet thing, at least for TV. Which leads me to today's Friday funny: a trivia page for Howdy Doody . Now if you're too young to know about Howdy Doody, look on this as an opportunity to get acquainted with one of the great TV legends. Hey, he's in the Smithsonian , for pete's sake! And wait until you find out who was the Canadian Buffalo Bob!
