Wireless 101 for Libraries

Are you tired of having to run new data cables every time you want to move a computer? Are there places you would like to place a computer, but have been told it is impossible or cost prohibitive to provide data there? Are you building a new facility or remodeling an old one and want to make sure that it's "wireless friendly"? Do you need to connect a bookmobile to your library automation system and the Internet? Do you want to explore alternatives to leasing telecommunications from your phone company to connect your branches?

If the answer to any of these is, "Yes", then there will be something in this workshop for you.

Workshop Description: This half day (four hours) workshop will cover the different types of wireless technologies available, their pros and cons, and how they can be integrated with existing technologies to deliver flexible library services.

Highlights: Through presentations, demonstrations and real-world examples participants will gain a foundation in wireless technologies and will be able to assess their relevance in their own library environment.
