Internet Services for the Spanish Speaker: ¡La red en español!
California is well known for its diverse ethnic and cultural population. Spanish is the primary language for the fastest-growing population segment in the state. Every day increasing numbers of Spanish-speaking persons use library services and collections throughout the state and many more people are becoming interested in Latino issues as well.
Join us in this all day, hands-on workshop to learn how you can better serve these newcomers and any others interested in obtaining information in Spanish through the Internet.
Workshop Description: You
don't have to be fluent in Spanish to get
good results using the Web. In this
workshop, we'll discuss how to find and
use Spanish resources available on the
Internet, demonstrate key sites, and
compare their resources. Particular
attention will be devoted to sites that
provide basic Internet tools to Spanish
speakers. This workshop will show you how
to use the tools available to help empower
the Spanish communities by introducing
them to the most revolutionary
informational technology of the past
millennium. You can also take advantage of
these resources to learn or to improve
your Spanish skills in order to help those
who are more comfortable communicating in
this language.
