Stacey Aldrich

Stacey Aldrich was recently appointed by Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger as the Deputy State Librarian of the California State Library. Before that she had the great opportunity to be the Assistant Director of the Omaha Public Library System. Before Omaha, she was the Deputy State Librarian at the Maryland State Department of Education, where her primary responsibility was to oversee the implementation of statewide projects. While in MD, Stacey played an active role in developing programs, conferences, and discussions to help public libraries generate ideas, conversations, and innovative programming around future thinking.

Stacey also spent six months working with Coates & Jarratt, Inc., a futuring think tank in D.C., honing her futurist thinking skills. She has consulted and participated in speaking engagements nationwide around libraries and future thinking. As she continues to work with Futurist colleagues, it is clear to Stacey that the best way that we can predict the future is to be an active part of it's creation. She has an MLS from the University of Pittsburgh, and is a member of the Association of Professional Futurists. Here's a link to a 2003 LJ article about her. http://www.libraryjournal.com/article/CA281648.html

Stacey has taught 7 classes in 2007.
