Beth Gallaway

Beth Gallaway, named a Library Journal Mover and Shaker in 2006, is an adjunct lecturer for Simmons College and teaches online classes for YALSA. She is the founder of the LibGaming email discussion group and the author of Get Your Game On: Video Games and Libraries (Neal Schuman, 2007). While working as a young adult librarian in a public library, Beth ran book discussion groups, poetry groups, computer classes and summer reading programs for teens. Her programming successes include a $26,000 grant for a program that trained middle school students to present stories to younger students at community organizations, while earning community service credit for doing so. As an independent library consultant, Beth now instructs librarians in how to run teen programs of all types, included gaming and game design, creative writing and Teen Read Week and Teen Tech Week events.

Beth has taught 21 classes from 2007 through 2010.
