Francisca Goldsmith

Francisca Goldsmith is the Director of Branch Services at Halifax Public Libraries. Formerly she was the Collection Management Librarian and head of Teen Services at Berkeley Public Library, and was a reference librarian in both academic and public libraries. Francisca has been reviewing graphic novels and interviewing graphic novel creators and publishers for many years, as well as building and maintaining library collections of graphic novels and organizing graphic novel programs for the general public, for students, and for library staff. She is the author of Graphic Novels Now: Building, managing, and Marketing a Dynamic Collection, published by ALA Editions, 2005, as well as numerous articles on the topic of comics and libraries. She has worked with school and public library staffs who have needed appropriate training to support up to date reference assistance and to design local weeding projects. Francisca has taught several Infopeople courses and also consults as a YALSA trainer for its Serving the Underserved Project and other YALSA staff development institutes.

Francisca has taught 64 classes from 2000 through 2008.
