Patricia Jimenez

Patricia Jimenez is passionate about education and learning. She strongly believes in the importance of gaining knowledge for both personal and professional growth and views libraries as a key resource in this life journey. Formerly employed by the Los Angeles Public Library, she served as the primary Circulation Training Coordinator and facilitator for the Central Library and more than 70 branches. She was directly involved in translating material from English to Spanish for the Spanish link on the library's website and printed material. With almost 10 years experience within the library system and her previous business venture as a sole proprietor of a small interior design service, she has been exposed to years of public service and recognizes the great need and value of providing quality service and meeting community needs. Spanish is her first language, and she understands from first-hand experience the needs and struggles of the Spanish-speaking population and the importance of making resources available to this sector of our communities.

Currently Patricia is employed by the City of Los Angeles, Commission for Children, Youth and Their Families. Community outreach and meeting the needs of the community from health services, youth civic engagement, child care and many other services is the core of this department, and as such, it reaches out to the Spanish-speaking population. As an Infopeople trainer, Patricia has taught Survival Spanish for Library Staff in various libraries, strengthening staff skills in communicating the Spanish-speaking patrons. She is working towards her teaching credential and aspires to teach elementary school with an emphasis on bilingual education.

Patricia has taught 39 classes from 2002 through 2007.
