Connie Pearson
While at Rancho Cotate High School, Connie became a Telementor, an early user of email and the Internet, and wrote several technology grants. One of the technology grants provided a 25 computer lab, directly connected to the Internet, in the library media center. With the advent of the Digital High School grant, Connie upgraded the computer lab with thirty new computers and a LCD projector as well as other peripherals. In this lab setting, Connie instructs students and teachers on strategies for using the Internet. She teams with teachers in developing curriculum units using both print and digital resources in the library media center. Information literacy, the process by which students learn to locate and choose appropriate information, as well as organize and synthesize information is emphasized.
Connie serves on the site and district technology committees, the high school's staff development committee, the School Leadership Committee, and the steering committee and board of the North Bay Cooperative Library System. She served as the SIP Coordinator for Site Council for eight years, and administered the Digital High School grant for two years. Connie is a member of California School Library Association and Computer Using Educators.
