Patty Wong
Patty Wong has initiated and managed the operation of small and large homework help centers for several years, raising more than $500,000 in funding. Currently, Ms. Wong administers a municipal grant to fund youth-focused homework centers in community based agencies, working collaboratively with school districts, parks and recreation programs, library-centered programs, vendors that provide homework enrichment products, and children and their families. During her tenure, the Oakland Public Library was the recipient of thousands of dollars to strengthen the popular PASS (Partners for Achieving School Success) homework centers in libraries and recreation centers. PASS and the Oakland Public Library received a Wallace-Reader�s Digest multi-year award as part of the Public Libraries as Partners in Youth Development program. PASS was featured as one of the top programs in Excellence in Service to Young Adults (2nd edition) and was included in Cindy Mediavilla's Creating the Full Service Homework Center in Your Library (2001).
