Gay Ducey
Gay Ducey is a children's librarian at a branch of Oakland Public Library and staff trainer for volunteer story-readers placed in Oakland Head Start programs. She is also a free-lance storyteller, storytelling educator and organizer. She has performed and taught throughout the United States, Canada, and Ireland. She has been a featured storyteller at the National Storytelling Festival and has appeared on Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. Her one-woman show, "Union Maid", was developed from a commission developed for and presented at the Smithsonian Institution's Museum of American History.
Gay has taught storytelling at UC Berkeley's School of Library and Information Studies and Berkeley's Education Extension and Dominican University. She remains an adjunct instructor at Santa Rosa Junior College. Gay has presented workshops for librarians, storytellers, parents and educators across the United States including King County Library System, Northern California Reading Conference and the Oklahoma Institute of the Arts.
