Dan McMahon

Dan McMahon is the Technology Support Analyst at Marin County Free Library, in charge of providing and supporting all of the library's 270 public and staff computers for the last three years. His background is primarily in libraries rather than technology, from being a library page in high school, and later doing outreach and children's storyhours, to running a small branch library in Santa Cruz.

Since 1989, Dan has been tinkering with the personal computers that have been showing up in libraries, and has steadily moved in the direction of supporting these computers for staff and public use, and in integrating their support right into the workload of library employees. He graduated from UC Berkeley's School of Information Management and Systems (the former SLIS program), and rather than solve the "is this a library degree or not?" problem, went to work as a techie for Marin County's library system.

Dan has taught 8 classes in 2003.

Sorry, there are no workshops scheduled at this time for this instructor.
