You are here

A group of podcasters has put together a very nice collection of old-time radio broadcasts in MP3 format, ready to be downloaded to your computer or MP3 player. You can listen to detective stories, westerns, big band serenades, and some sci fi adventures! You can get an RSS feed to be notified when new stuff is added, too.
And while we're on the subject: check out The Mercury Theatre on the Air. This site has a collection of Mercury Theatre (that's the New York drama company founded by Orson Welles and John Houseman) productions, including the infamous 1938 broadcast of H.G. Well's War of the Worlds (timely listening given that the movie is opening in a few weeks). Don't miss H.G. Wells (yes, the actual H.G. Wells!) Meets Orson Welles, a conversation between the two men from 1940! Most of the files are in Real and MP3 format.
