To 3D or Not 3D: That's just one question

One of the most popular place in the #clanoise exhibits was the California Library Association's own makerspace area, which came fully loaded with soldering stations and three-dimensional printers for conference attendees to explore through use. Libraries and makerspaces have been a trending topic at both library conferences and in local and regional initiatives.

The California Library Association's 115th annual conference is now history--and, as with any event in history, it offers information and insights we can use now in the present and take into the future. This year, the programs werre particularly impressive for their diversity, professionalism, and, most importantly, their subsuntative content.

Time flies (so do airplanes) and here we are!

There is, indeed, a whole lotta noise happening in Long Beach, as the California Library Association swings into its 115th annual conference. In spite of airport closures and cancelled flights, everyone is now here and catching the sound waves as we learn about "It's All about Them," with Craig Gerhart of the International City/County Managers Association; Eureka! at the Carnival aisle (425/426) in the Exhibits; the new immigration education project rolling out from the USCIS and IMLS agreement; and more, more, more!

Prepare to document your library's value

The initial health insurance open enrollment period, a key component of the Affordable Care Act, provides an excellent opportunity to demonstrate the meaningful role public libraries serve in their communities. By documenting the work your public library undertakes on behalf of assisting its community in connecting to the information and access points they need related to the Affordable Care Act, you can build the profile of public libraries in general as well as become more visible as a local community resource.
