Metasearching: Librarians Like Searching, Users Like Finding
An Infopeople Webinar
Presenter: Roy Tennant
When it comes to online searching, today's libraries have lots of competition—and that competition (Google, anyone?) has raised the bar on making finding tools both simple and effective for end users. Metasearching can help streamline the user's quest for high-quality, library-owned or licensed content. With emerging metasearch tools, libraries can provide a simplified interface to a variety of separate sources. If you want to learn about how to demystify library searching and keep up with your commercial competitors, this webcast is for you. This session presumes no prior knowledge of the subject. The presenter will begin with definitions of key terms, give a description of the problem being solved, and discuss the promise of metasearching technology, using examples from public and academic libraries that are already using metasearch tools.
Webinars are free of charge and registration is only done on the day of the event on the WebEx server. No passwords are required.
