Interlibrary Loan, E-Reserves, Replacements: When Can My Library Make Legal Copies?
An Infopeople Webinar
Presenter: Mary Minow
Shipping a physical document is not always the most efficient way to address a request for information. And with the widespread availability of online search tools, users are asking for materials from other libraries at far greater rates than in the past. Library workers are therefore facing a number of important questions:
- When may a library legally make a copy of material in its collection to send to its own users?
- Are the rules different for print vs. non-print materials?
- How about copies for users from another library?
- What wording must be marked on the copies?
- When may libraries legally scan copies for e-reserves?
- Under what conditions may a library make copies for preservation and replacement?
This webcast will help participants make copies for users while staying within the law.
Webinars are free of charge and registration is only done on the day of the event on the WebEx server. No passwords are required.
