When Cheryl Lee decided to go to pursue her Masters in Library and Information Science (M.L.I.S.), it was always her goal to use her marketing and sales experience to promote the library. Cheryl says, "Libraries are known as a depository of books. We have so much more to offer, so much more to see, and so much more for people to experience in the Library." She has dedicated her efforts to breaking those traditional roles of the librarians by extending public library services beyond its four walls to the masses.
Cheryl is a 2014 Library Journal Mover and Shaker in the area of Marketing for her work as the Community Engagement/Outreach Librarian. She is also a 2011 Eureka! Leadership Program fellow and a 2009 ALA Emerging Leader. She is currently serving on the 2016 Newbery Book Award committee and served on the 2011 Geisel Book Award Committee. Cheryl is currently serving as a Youth Advisory Committee for San Jose State's School of Library and Information Science.
Cheryl has been a Librarian for the past 9 years and additionally has worked in Public Libraries for 20+ years. Cheryl received her B.S. in Business Marketing and her M.L.I.S. at San Jose State University. Cheryl is currently the Branch Manager of the Northside Branch Library at the Santa Clara City Library.
