Eric
Lease Morgan considers himself to be a
librarian first and a computer user
second. His professional goal is to
discover new ways to use computers to
improve library service. He has been
giving his software away for more than ten
years before the term open source software
had been coined.

His most recent and significant
contribution to open source software in
libraries is the development and initial
implementation of the MyLibrary concept -
a user-driven, customizable interface to
collections of library materials - a
portal.

In 1994 he began the Mr. Serials Process
http://infomotions.com/serials/,
a systematic method for collecting,
indexing, and disseminating electronic
serials. This matured into Index
Morganagus
http://sunsite.berkeley.edu/~emorgan/morganagus/.
In 2002, Eric was awarded the 2002
Bowker/Ulrich's Serials Librarianship
Award for his serials work as well as
MyLibrary.
