Lisa M. Shaia is a children's librarian and professional writer. Over the past decade, she has developed and implemented hundreds of passive and active programs for children and teens of all ages. In her first three years at her current position she increased the children's program attendance by 82 percent.

Her writing can be found in publications such as Library Sparks and the Collaborative Summer Reading Program Manual. Her book, After School Clubs for Kids: Thematic Programming to Encourage Reading, has received praise from Booklist who said "A year's worth of plans, plus program-publicity blurbs, lists of books to display each month, and the expert guidance of fellow librarians? One almost expects her to throw in a set of steak knives. Highly recommended for all librarians working with youth."
