Katie Scherrer is the owner of Connected Communities and the founder of “Stories, Songs, and Stretches!” which trains participants to use yoga-inspired movement to support early learning. Katie is a Registered Yoga Teacher who specializes in the instruction of yoga and mindfulness to children. She is also a co-founder of the Be Project, a trauma-informed mindfulness curriculum for PreK-12th grade students and teachers first piloted 2017 in a rural Kentucky school district. Katie has published two books with the American Library Association. Her most recent title is Stories, Songs, and Stretches: Creating Playful Storytimes with Yoga and Movement. Katie also provides consulting and training services to help libraries and educational organizations increase their inclusion of Latinx and Spanish-speaking immigrant communities.
