In the past ten years Aaron Schmidt has been a circulation clerk, reference librarian, and library director. As Digital Initiatives Librarian for the District of Columbia Public Library, he helped plan forward-thinking projects to connect the library to the community. He has given presentations on library technology and usability throughout the United States and internationally. In 2005, Schmidt was named a Library Journal "Mover & Shaker."Currently he is a principal at Influx Library User Experience Consulting. Past clients include the Global Libraries Program of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Seattle Public Library, the Darien Library, and the District of Colombia Public Library. He maintains a library usability and design weblog at walkingpaper.org and writes a column on user experience for Library Journal.
