Barbara Alvarez has partnered with countless professionals, organizations, and businesses to share their powerful stories and make a profound impact on their communities. Barbara developed the nation’s first library Memory Connection Center to prepare families and individuals for the journey of caring for someone with dementia. For this, she was awarded the 2019 Programming Innovation Award by the Wisconsin Library Association.
Barbara was a Business Liaison Librarian where she designed and delivered continuing educational tools to job seekers, professionals, and business owners. She received the 2017 PrivCo Award for Outstanding Business Librarianship and the 2015 Morningstar Public Librarian Support Award. Additionally, she was an Athena Award nominee for innovation and creativity in the library’s community.
Barbara is the co-founder of The Library OnConference, a free virtual conference with over 500 participants from 39 countries. She is the author of Embedded Business Librarianship for the Public Librarian. Barbara received a Master in Library and Information Science from the University of Illinois-Urbana Champaign and an Advanced Specialist Certificate in Information Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
