Crystal is the Public Library Leadership Development Consultant at the Colorado State Library. In this role, she works with state-level partners, library directors/boards, and others to support strong leadership and development of public libraries and their communities. She oversees Colorado public library standards, supports policy and strategic planning development, offers training for library staff and boards, and works on community engagement and other development initiatives.
Prior to her work at the Colorado State Library, Crystal worked as an independent consultant and founder of Kixal. In this capacity, she has provided training on projects for the Urban Libraries Council’s Edge Initiative, the Public Library Association’s Project Outcome, DigitalLearn.org, TechSoup’s monthly webinar series for libraries, and Infopeople’s Building an Effective Learning Culture project. She has given digital literacy and technology workshops for state and regional libraries including the Georgia Public Library Service, Infopeople, the Eastern Shore Regional Library, and the Washington State Library.
