Lara Mayelian is a Library Branch Manager at South San Francisco Public Library. From 2008 to 2017, she worked as a Teen Services Librarian at the juvenile detention center in King County, Washington in Seattle. For ten years, she taught Library Skills classes, web evaluation & provided A TON of readers advisory to incarcerated children. Lara also worked at a branch where she would see many of the kids upon release. She created an award-winning program for kids who were released from detention into an in-patient drug rehab facility & saw first-hand the enormous opportunity for library programming to decarcerated individuals.
