Liz McChesney is a Youth Services Consultant and children’s librarian.  At the Chicago Public Library, she served as the Citywide Director of Children’s Services and Family Engagement and spent 32 years building services to children and families.  She led the transformation of summer reading to learning at CPL, starting a national movement in the field and earning her a 2014 Library Journal Mover & Shaker award as well as the National Summer Learning Association’s Excellence Award in 2015.  She has authored two books for ALA and speaks nationally about the vital role of libraries and library staff in kids’ lives.  She serves as a Senior Advisor to the Urban Libraries Council and is the Early Childhood Partnerships Consultant to the Clinton Global Initiative-Laundry Cares Foundation Laundry Literacy Project.
