Madeleine Charney is a master gardener, labyrinth facilitator, mindfulness/bodyfulness teacher, climate change activist and the mother of a teenager. Her two favorite pastimes are crafting herbal remedies as gifts (e.g. soothing teas for stressed out moms) and singing in groups. Madeleine’s experience of burnout in her library career eventually led her to a major course correction. She holds an MLS from the University of Rhode Island and an MA in Sustainable Landscape Planning and Ecological Design from the Conway School of Landscape Design. Madeleine works at the W.E.B. Du Bois Library at the University of Massachusetts where she offers research support for the departments of landscape architecture, regional planning, agriculture, and philosophy. She sits on various campus committees that are collaborating on the energy transition (and inner transition) toward a livable climate.
