Shirley Ly is the Children’s Librarian at the Lincoln Heights Branch of the Los Angeles Public Library for more than 15 years. She has been an advocate for STEAM programs in public libraries. Since the pandemic, Shirley has been converting her regular virtual classroom visits into successful Neighborhood Science programs, where students learn about the science behind various global issues and participate in real scientific research to help solve or monitor real-world problems.
