Course Description: Using Asset Based Community Development principles and methods, libraries can strengthen their capacity to serve their local communities through lifting up and reminding community members of their own assets, talents, and power. “Going Deeper” is a course for those interested in digging into the practical “doing” of asset-based community development.
Course Outline: When you log in to the Infopeople online learning site, you will see weekly modules with these topics:
- Week 1: Regrounding: The Fundamentals of ABCD & The Role of the Professional
- Week 2: ABCD Implementation Processes: A Bird’s Eye View
- Week 3: “Nuts & Bolts”: The Ingredients of Practice
- Week 4: Getting it Going & Creative Troubleshooting

Time Required: To complete this course, you can expect to spend 2/1/2 hours per week, with options for further study and application. You can work on each module at your own pace, at any hour of the day or night. However, it is recommended that you complete each week's assignments within that week to stay in sync with other learners.
