Monkeypox is far from the last pandemic of our time. As the impact of climate change on the planet ensures that pandemics will be increasingly likely to occur in the future, many libraries are at a loss as to how to serve the public and prevent the virus’ spread while keeping staff safe. Much like Covid and its many mutations, information about monkeypox is still evolving alongside misconceptions and stigmas.

What lessons can we learn from Covid that will help us prepare to safely serve the public now and in future outbreaks? How can libraries promote accurate information about prevention and risk in a way that dispels myths such as "monkeypox is only happening to gay people"?

Join us for an informational discussion that will incorporate the perspectives of a public health expert and a public library leader.
