An Early Learning with Families (ELF) Webinar

July 12th, 2016 12:00 PM
1:00 PM

This webinar will be of interest to California Public Libraries only.

Presenters: Suzanne Flint CSL, Madeline Walton-Hadlock from San Jose Public Library, and Susie Serrano from Butte County Library

This webinar will introduce Touchpoints in Libraries – a professional development training now being offered to library jurisdictions in California. Touchpoints is an evidence-based approach to understanding child development and using family engagement strategies to enhance customer service. It has now been adapted specifically for libraries to help support their services for children, families, and caregivers. The training consists of a three-day, in-person training followed by six monthly reflective practice calls. In this webinar you’ll hear from library staff who have already taken the training and who have helped to adapt it specifically for libraries. Librarians Madeline Walton-Hadlock and Susie Serrano will share what Touchpoints is, and what it has meant for their libraries and their work with children and families. Suzanne Flint from the California State Library will review how library jurisdictions in California can apply to participate in one of 9 training opportunities to be scheduled in the 2016/17 grant year and answer questions about the online application process.
