Better Sharing Through Metadata: Good Practices for Better Discovery

Great work! But now what? Beyond marketing, outreach, and publishing your collections online, how can you drive more people toward your valuable content? In this free webinar, you'll learn how to promote the discoverability of your collections with a broad audience, by making those resources available through regional and national-level aggregations such as Calisphere (from the California Digital Library) and the Digital Public Library of America (DPLA).

Topics include best practices for creating shareable metadata, as well as simple tools and strategies to use in preparing and sharing your digital collections.

At the end of this one-hour webinar, participants will:

• Be familiar with six key areas of metadata enhancement for better discovery within aggregations and search engines
• Have an understanding of the relationship between local metadata considerations and those necessary for optimal discovery within aggregations
• Be equipped with various tools and processes for creating shareable metadata records and enhancing existing records
