Today’s children are growing up in a technology rich world, with new products and devices rapidly being introduced. Conversations around children and screen time have become common, but as technologies change, the discussions should also include emerging technologies such as digital fabrication tools, virtual reality, and social robots.

During this free 90-minute webinar, library staff will learn about current research on the use of digital technologies with young children and receive guidance and support to help navigate this challenging technological landscape with young patrons.

Digital technologies addressed will include:

  • Augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR)
  • Social robots and conversational agents
  • Digital games
  • Coding
  • Digital fabrication tools

This webinar is based on the Bay Area Discovery Museum’s newly released paper, Tech Time with Purpose, and will be of interest to library staff at all levels who work with youth and technology.
